Thinking of buying in Golden Sands, but heard it's dead in winter. True?

Hey everyone, I've been looking at some apartments in Golden Sands and the prices actually seem pretty reasonable compared to the city. However, a colleague mentioned that the whole area completely shuts down once the summer season ends and turns into a ghost town. Is it really that bad during the off-season, or are there still enough people living there year-round to make it manageable? I work remotely, so I don't need a bustling nightlife, but I'd still like to have a grocery store and at least one decent café open within walking distance.

Yeah, your colleague is pretty much spot on. Golden Sands is a pure resort town, so come October, it turns into a ghost town.

I stayed there through November once to finish a project, and honestly, it felt eerie. Almost everything is boarded up.

To answer your specific question about groceries and coffee: yes, there is usually one small supermarket that stays open for locals, but your café options will be zero.

Have you looked at Varna instead? It's right next to Golden Sands, has reasonable prices, and actually stays alive all year because it's a real city.

Totally agree with the Varna suggestion. Golden Sands in winter is depressing unless you love absolute solitude and howling wind.

It's not *completely* dead, but close. A few hardy souls live there year-round, but don't expect any buzz.

Delivery apps like Glovo don't even deliver out there in the off-season. Just keep that in mind if you don't drive.

Actually, if you want cheap seaside living in winter, Sunny Beach is the same story. These resorts are literally built for tourism only.

Can confirm the wind part. Plus, maintenance in those complexes during winter can be a nightmare when pipes freeze.

I bought a place there thinking it would be peaceful, but ended up selling it two years later because I felt so isolated.
