Struggling to pay property taxes on the city website - am I missing something?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to pay my local property taxes online for the first time, but the municipality website is driving me crazy. The interface looks like it was built in 2005, and I keep getting looped between the lookup page and a generic payment portal without any confirmation. Has anyone else dealt with this town portal recently? Is there a direct link or a secret trick to finding the actual billing section without clicking through five broken menus?

Have you tried using a different browser? I had the exact same loop happen in Chrome, but when I switched to Edge, it somehow went right through.

That's what my dad always says! But I hate paying for stamps. Still, online portals for local gov are always terrible.

Are you using the mobile version or desktop? The mobile layout usually hides the actual billing link off-screen.

Local municipalities really need to hire actual web developers instead of letting the mayor's nephew build the site for free pizza.

If you look closely at the URL, sometimes you can delete the end part and type '/pay' to bypass the menus. Worked for me last year.

Usually it just redirects you to the gateway, but definitely do it at your own risk!

Just call the tax collector's office tomorrow morning. They can take the payment over the phone in two minutes without all the website nonsense.

Seconding the phone call idea. The people in that office are usually super nice, unlike their IT department.

What a nightmare. Glad I rent for now, though I'm sure landlords just pass those headaches onto us anyway.
