Hey everyone, I recently bought an apartment here and I'm looking to get proper property insurance. Given the seismic activity in the region, I definitely want to make sure earthquake damage is fully covered, along with the usual indoor plumbing leaks and neighbor floods. There are so many local and international insurers to choose from like DZI, Bulstrad, Uniqa, and others. Which company do you currently use for your home insurance, and have you ever had to actually file a claim with them? I would really appreciate any honest feedback on their customer service and payout process.

Congrats on the new apartment! I use Bulstrad and have been generally happy with them, though luckily I haven't had to file a major claim yet.

I'm with DZI. They are a bit more expensive than others, but their earthquake coverage is comprehensive and they are reliable.

Stay away from Armeets if you want a fast payout. They made my friend wait for months after a water leak from the upstairs neighbor.

Uniqa is decent for basic packages, but make sure to read the fine print about plumbing leaks. Some things are excluded unless you pay extra.

I completely agree with the DZI recommendation. Had a minor pipe burst last winter and they reimbursed the repair costs within two weeks.

Does anyone know if Allians Bulgaria offers good earthquake coverage in Sofia? Their rates look pretty competitive.

Be very careful with deductibles. Some cheap policies have such high deductibles that minor leaks aren't even worth reporting.

I use Bulstrad too, echoing what the first user said. Their online portal makes policy renewal super easy.

Insurers here usually require a professional assessment for earthquake damage to meet specific standards, so keep all your receipts when buying the flat.

It's around 100k leva for the structure and 20k for valuables. Not maximum coverage, but enough for peace of mind.

Whatever you do, take lots of photos of your apartment interior right now before anything happens. It helps massively with claims later.
